Like most teenagers, music was a significant part of my life growing up. As noted in my first week of blogging, I enjoy a variety of styles of music. But as I reflected recently on some of the artists I enjoyed as a teenager, I truly appreciated the influence they had on my life. If I mentioned their names, many of you would have no clue who they are. They have dropped off the radar.
So, I began to look them up on social media. Some are still in the music industry, but others are business people, parents, and just normal folks… not superstars. They had a moment in time… a window of opportunity to utilize the talents they have to make an impact.
Now most of us will never be superstars like some of them were. But we each have windows of opportunity to make an impact… a significant impact on specific individuals.
The question is… Are we taking advantage of those windows and making the most of the opportunities we have to touch peoples’ lives in a positive way? Because one day… like it or not… that window is going to close on us… just like it did for those artists I loved as a teenager.
So, while we have a window of opportunity, let’s do the best we can… the most we can… and one day, perhaps someone will be looking us up to tell us thanks.
