Perhaps you think that because this blog has access to more than 4,000 people (not counting those who received these posts from friends who share it via email) there is no way I know who is reading this or what is going through your mind and heart… and I suppose you are partly correct. But I know what I’m writing tonight is for someone specific… even though I don’t know whom yet.
But here it goes…
In case no one has ever told you… I love you. I love you not because you are always good. I love you even when you know you don’t match up to what is right.
In case no one has ever told you… I’m proud of you. You make me smile. You’re amazing!
In case no one has ever told you… You are talented, gifted and creative in a way that no one else on earth can match or replicate. You have abilities which are off the charts.
In case no one has ever told you… You are attractive. People want to get to know you because there is something intriguing about you.
In case no one has ever told you… You are capable of accomplishing so much good in life. You have crazy potential stored up inside you.
In case no one has ever told you… I value you more than you can possibly imagine. You are important.

How can I say those things to you? I know that it’s possible I have never even met you in person… or perhaps we met once for just a moment. So how could I know that you need to read those words tonight? And how can I write them so confidently?
Well, I tried to put myself in God’s shoes for just a moment tonight. Oh, I know I’m not good enough to be Him. I just tried to be like Him. And as I opened my heart to His, I sensed that these are the things He would say to you tonight if you gave Him the opportunity to sit down and talk with you face-to-face, one-on-one.
He would say to you… “Maybe no one has ever told you this before. Or someone has told you and not proved it. Or maybe someone has told you and you just couldn’t believe them. But in case no one credible has ever told you, let Me be the first…”
And so I wrote tonight… with Him in mind… and with you in mind.
What if you just took a moment right now… scrolled back up to those few statements… closed your eyes… and imagined God saying those words to the deepest part of you? What if you let Him whisper them to a place in your heart and mind no one else has ever reached? What if you took a chance and believed He means it?
That’s all. Except that I love you, too. Good night.
