Some people make music… some people make spectacular food… some people make art… some people make inventions which solve problems for millions of people… I usually just make friends.
Creating doesn’t usually seem to be my forte. I don’t make a fuss… I do try to make a difference. I’m not necessarily artistic. I’m not necessarily musical. I do make sermons with the Lord’s help.
Isn’t that the key… with the Lord’s help? In Matthew 4:19, Jesus called men to follow Him as their guide & teacher. His promise to them is that He would make them… He would take those who catch fish to feed their bellies and make them into those who catch men for God’s Kingdom.
The focus is on transforming them… making them. Jesus made them:
Capable- Jesus transformed them into those who had the ability to serve Him and welcome people into His family.
Confident- Jesus transformed them into those who were able to stand before crowds and leaders without struggling or stammering or quivering.
Courageous- Jesus transformed them into those who could stare threats, punishment and even death in the face boldly.
The Good News for us is that Jesus is the same yesterday, today & forever! The One who made them capable, confident & courageous will make you those things as well. All He asks is that you follow Him… make Him your teacher, your guide, your leader, your rescuer from sin. When you make Him these things, He makes you those things!
