Do You Have A Dream?

He Had A Dream

Today, across our nation, we celebrate a man who had a dream to see civil rights recognized for all people. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. did not give up on that dream. It wasn’t easy. And he even died tragically before he saw its fulfillment. But he didn’t stop pursuing that dream throughout his lifetime. And he inspired others to dream along with him. Eventually, his dream became reality.

Do You Have A Dream?

I believe God has placed dreams and desires in each of our hearts… good things for us to do which would honor Him and make a positive difference in this world as well. I write to because I want to fulfill my purpose of loving and encouraging people, offering grace and hope. I have dreams in my heart.

Do you have a dream? What is it? Ar you pursuing it? Or has something become a roadblock to you pursuing it?

Three Roadblocks

There are three typical roadblocks which can come along to keep people from pursuing and fulfilling their dreams. My encouragement to you today is to not let any one of these roadblocks stop you. Don’t give up on your dream because of:
TIME

Don’t let how long it is taking you to accomplish your dream stop you from pursuing your dream. You might have to work at it your entire life. Don’t give up. It may take you a decade or more. Don’t give up. It took Moses more than 40 years to get the children of Israel from slavery in Egypt to entering their Promised Land. It took Joseph about 13 years to go from the pit to the palace and see his dream fulfilled. It took Noah years to build the ark that would save his family and all animal species. No matter how long it seems to be taking, don’t give up on your God-given dreams. If He put the dream in your heart, He will bring it about regardless of how long it takes.

TALK

Don’t let what people say about you or your dream keep you from pursuing it and seeing it become reality. Not everyone will cheer for your or champion your dream. That’s because it’s not their dream. It wasn’t designed for them or given to them. It was given to you. God knew you could handle it. And He will bring along the right people at the right time to help you accomplish your dream. He will let the dreams of others which feed your dream or feed off your dream intersect yours in just the right way. People spoke against Nehemiah’s dream to rebuild the wall in Jerusalem. He simply told them that he didn’t have time to come down from his construction project to get into a conversation about how they didn’t believe in his dream. In other words, “while you’re busy talking about how my dream won’t become a reality, I’m working to make it a reality.” Whatever you do, don’t let the talk of others stop your dream.

TRIALS

Don’t let how tough it seems to break through the challenges and overcome the obstacles to your dream prevent you from pursuing it and fulfilling it. Nothing of greatness was ever achieved easily on the human side of the equation. But thankfully, God is on our side. And He promises in Isaiah 54:17 that “no weapon formed against you shall prosper.” God even spoke to a man named Zerubbabel, who had a dream to rebuild the temple where people could worship God, and told him that before him even a mountain in his way would become level ground. There is no challenge or obstacle which can prevent you from fulfilling the dreams God has placed in your heart.

So, what is your dream? What would you stand in front of thousands and proclaim, “I have a dream…” about? Whatever it is, don’t give up.

Not sure right now what your dream is? That’s okay. Ask God to stir dreams in your heart which He will help you fulfill in this life. And then go for it!
