I’d say that you’d be hard-pressed to find too many days in my life when I don’t ask the Lord in the morning to help me be an encouragement and a blessing to anyone with whom I come in contact that day. On those days when I get to pray with the boys or the whole family, I pray it again. In fact, I prayed it with Alex this morning.
Opportunities
Sure enough, within an hour or so, we had the opportunity to encourage and bless the owner of our favorite local donut shop. Right after that, I had the opportunity to help out a lady working at the gas station. In Walmart grabbing a few groceries, I watched PR31 as she spoke kindly to two different people who apparently said something to her in the middle of her shopping.
Boomerang
What I didn’t see coming was how each of my family would encourage and bless me today. Wow! Alex helped me see the bright side of something… Austin made me laugh… Angela brightened my day with a treat.
I didn’t realize that a prayer for us to be a blessing and encouragement to everyone would include them being exactly that to me… but I have to admit, I’m pretty glad I prayed that prayer.
Encouragement is something any of us can afford to give this season (or any time, really). So why not ask the Lord to give you opportunities to bless and encourage others. Who knows? You might be the recipient just like me.
